The 71 year old former public servant failed in an attempt to block a second trial for the alleged murder of Mr Winchester, 55, who was Australian Federal Police assistant commissioner when he was gunned down in his Canberra driveway in January 1989.

Call to ban strip searches of youth detainees
Bimberi staff have called for an end to the routine use of degrading strip searches where detainees as young as 10 years old are forced to "squat and cough".
Staff said the searches were unnecessary, humiliating, and could bring back traumatic memories for children with histories of sexual abuse.
