The reason why the Goodies singer is so excited to be spruiking eye shadow palettes (money notwithstanding)? The 30-year-old was named after the beauty brand's first heady fragrance.

"It's a life-long dream of mine come true. My Mum got my name from the fragrance, Ciara. My Dad gave it to her and she fell in love with it and the name. She was the first person I called when I found out about the job," she told Fairfax Media.

Joining Revlon alongside other faces including Emma Stone and Halle Berry, Ciara is keen to help the brand leave a legacy of philanthropy – one of her favourite pastimes.

"Empowering women and helping to change people's lives is what makes me the most excited about being able to partner with the iconic brand," she said.

"When I discovered that being myself and being unique was the most beautiful thing I could do, it was game-changing because you really flourish when you find your identity.

"Being an artist it was really about knowing your creative vision, knowing who you are and how you want to express yourself, so I took on that philosophy when I was becoming an artist which is really important because that's what allowed people to see me as my own thing and it wasn't about copying or being someone else I'm not."

Ciara, along with her new husband, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson, is hoping to return to Australia soon.

"I love the kangaroos. I've got some great fans there."

The couple married in July at a tiny chapel in a British castle which she couldn't fit into as she wore a dress with a four-metre train.
