The family has issued a fresh plea to the public calling for information over the Lyons man's disappearance, calling for even the smallest piece of information that could help find him.
The 56-year-old was last seen walking from Westfield Woden on November 30 last year, though there were sightings in the weeks following the missing persons report.
Mr Jacob's sister, Kim Hayes said phone calls from the police about apparent sightings had dried up in recent months, leading the family to appeal again to the public for information.
She said Mr Jacob had led a transient life through Canberra, but a complete lack of contact was out of character.
"It's totally out of character for him not to be in touch with his daughters; he would always call in," she said.
"He hasn't just gone off into the bush."
The disappearance has left a devastating impact on the family, exacerbated by the prolonged period in which Mr Jacob has been missing.
"You go to bed thinking of him and you wake up thinking of him, it's been dreadful," Mrs Hayes said.
"Obviously it's been too long, we think he's passed on. We're just desperate for answers."
Mrs Hayes called on anyone with even the smallest piece of information that could help the search to contact police.
"Someone out there has to know something. It just seems as though he's been forgotten and he hasn't been."
Case officer Senior Constable Greg Ayton stressed Mr Jacob was not in trouble with police and said information could be given either in person or anonymously.
Mr Jacob mostly kept to Civic, the inner north and inner south, but Senior Constable Ayton said police had also followed up on information elsewhere in the ACT and interstate.
"We had numerous reports when we initially spoke to the media, but given that it's been six months people tend to forget that the story's out there," he said.
"Robbie does have some health concerns and a bit of a history of some substance abuse. He's not in any trouble from us, we just want to make sure he's OK and safe."
Mr Jacob is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 179 centimetres tall with a slim build and short brown hair.
