On Thursday Mr Turnbull declared Australia's domestic violence crisis would be his first order of business as new Prime Minister with a $100 million funding package.
An emotional Ms Batty was at his side for the announcement, "We finally are starting to hear from the leaders of our country that they are addressing this issue."
The package includes $59 million for practical initiatives to keep women safe, with a proposal to attach ankle bracelets to the worst perpetrators of family violence to allow police to track their movements as well as the distribution of more than 20,000 mobile phones to women in need.
A further $36 million will go to improve frontline services, including better training for police, magistrates and emergency service providers, while $15 million will increase victims' access to legal services, including placing lawyers in hospital emergency departments.
Ms Batty said she was particularly pleased to see a commitment to introduce respectful relationship education in the curriculums of all Australian schools from kindergarten to Year 10 by 2017.
"I have worked really hard this year. I have spoken at over 250 events and reached over 50,000 people trying to get this message across of how serious family violence is in our society."
"There have been thousands of people through decades working so hard to get to this point where we accept and acknowledge this is a gender issue. We have two women murdered each week, one in three women affected by violence and one in four children."
On Friday Ms Batty will launch her book A Mother's Story at the National Library of Australia.
It chronicles her own experience navigating the police and justice system in an ultimately futile attempt to keep herself and her 11-year-old son, Luke, safe from Luke's violent father Greg Anderson.
Anderson's horrendous attack on Luke while he was playing cricket at the local sports field last year prompted Ms Batty to force a national debate on domestic violence.
In January she was made Australian of the Year.
The Victorian Coroner will hand down his findings on the inquest into Luke's death on Monday.
