Prime Minister Tony Abbott has taken to his official YouTube channel to ramp up the rhetoric, and flag a possible national security crackdown.
Referencing the Sydney siege, he said people who might be a threat to Australia have been getting "the benefit of the doubt" for too long.
"There's been the benefit of the doubt at our borders, the benefit of the doubt for residency, the benefit of the doubt for citizenship and the benefit of the doubt at Centrelink," he said.

Manuka Oval has ramped up security in preparation for the Cricket World Cup, positioning guards on the field 24 hours a day to protect the pitch in the build-up to the first match on Wednesday.
Security guards are being used to prevent intruders from ruining the playing surface as part of a risk-management strategy and ICC anti-corruption measures.

Update 9.30am: The collision on Parkes Way between Edinburgh Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue has been cleared and lanes have been reopened.
8.46am: Avoid Parkes Way. Traffic is heavy in the area after a car and a motorbike collided on Parkes Way between Edinburgh Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue. Police said they believe there is one injury. One lane is blocked on the way from the city to Belconnen.
8.35am: Police said there has been a collision on Parkes Way, west bound just before the on ramp to Commonwealth Avenue bridge. Avoid the area if possible.

The speed limit of a section of Baldwin Drive in Kaleen between Ginninderra Drive and the southern end of Maribyrnong has been changed from 80 km/hr to 60 km/hr in line with the rest of Baldwin drive.
