Coach Dan McKellar knows the Brumbies will only be as good as their next performance, just as they will only be as good as the next man that comes in to fill a void as a handful of key players continue to battle injury.
It is why he stood before his players on day one of pre-season training and told them a return to the finals would only be possible if everyone pulled their weight.
Not just the all-stars sprinkled among the squad - it was on every player, from the starting XV down to No. 40 on the list.
The Brumbies' depth is set to be seriously tested for the remainder of the season beginning with a clash against the Argentina Jaguares at Jose Almafitani Stadium on Sunday morning (AEST).
David Pocock (calf), Lachlan McCaffrey (knee) and Josh Mann-Rea (knee) have departed the touring squad due to injury in a cruel blow for the Brumbies.
Connal McInerney has made the mad dash to Argentina to plug the gap left at hooker with the club exploring the prospect of signing a third No. 2 to add depth to the vital position.
Pressure is now firmly on the shoulders of flankers Jahrome Brown and Tom Cusack to stand tall once more in the absence of Pocock and McCaffrey.
McKellar has no doubt the Brumbies can overcome a mounting injury toll to claim their third consecutive win after Brown shone in his first start in Cape Town last weekend.
"Outstanding, outstanding," McKellar said of Brown's first start.
"Even though there was a lot of chat about Poey being unavailable again, and McCaffrey [being injured], they're two major players for us, I was really comfortable that [Pete] Samu, Cusack and Jahrome, and Murray Douglas off the bench, would do the job for us.
"All four of those boys' contributions were outstanding. I said from day one of pre-season this is going to be a squad effort. You're not going to win the comp with 23 or 25 players, you need all 40 boys and that has proven to be the case."
The Brumbies are caught in a major logjam of teams jostling for finals spots, with just five points separating the fifth-placed Johannesburg Lions and the 14th-placed Waikato Chiefs.
McKellar's side sits third in the Australian conference having dropped a handful of vital derby games and 11th overall on 19 points.
Brown says the Brumbies are brimming with confidence after the 22-year-old claimed man of the match honours in one of the club's most remarkable wins in recent memory last week.
"It was good to be out there. I was a bit nervous going into it, but once we got started the nerves went away and I just played my game," Brown said.
"It was a good opportunity to get the starting spot and hopefully I get another opportunity next week.
"We take a lot of confidence out of that because the boys dug deep because she was pretty tough out there. The win was a good result.
"We were there for each other and everyone just played for the bloke next to them.
"It's good to get back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Hopefully we get a chance to play with the ball a bit more and don't have to make as many tackles [against the Jaguares]."
