Not only did he put in a nice grubber on a fifth tackle in the first half, but he also showed his soccer skills in the second.
He soccered ahead for Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to run onto and score a try that gave the Green Machine an unlikely chance to pinch the win.
On top of that try assist, he also ran for 112 metres, switched from the second row on the right edge to right centre, and then to left centre after half-time.
It was part of a second-half reshuffle that saw Nick Cotric move to right wing, Joey Leilua return to the centres and Elliott Whitehead shift to the right, with Jarrod Croker moving to left wing and Jack Murchie to the left as well.
Imagine what Bateman's going to produce on a weekly basis once he settles on a position.
What a Croker
It was meant to be a celebration of Raiders co-captain Jarrod Croker's 100th game in charge of the Green Machine, only to have it ruined by his distant relative Lachlan Croker.
Croker, of the Lachlan variety, made a surprise return from his third knee reconstruction one year and one day after he last hurt it.
He scored two tries and had to lead the team around after his captain Daly Cherry-Evans went down with an ankle injury.
All against his junior team, who he played one NRL game for before moving to Manly.
"It's good to see Lachie back. I've known him for a while, he's obviously been at the club, I'm good mates with him," Jarrod Croker said.
"He played a really good game and hopefully he keeps getting more games under his belt.
"I think their middles played really well, I think they lifted when Daly went down."
Raiders honour Alfie
The Raiders wore black armbands to commemorate the life of one of their own, Alfie Walker.
Walker died of a heart attack on Anzac Day.
Raider No.81 played four games for the Green Machine across two season in 1986-87, all off the bench.
