Just days after Friends star Cox announced she was engaged to Snow Patrol guitarist and pianist Johnny McDaid, her ex-husband proposed to his girlfriend, entertainment reporter Christina McLarty.
After less than a year together, Cox and McDaid announced their engagement on June 27 via Twitter. The 37-year-old Irishman popped the question on Cox’s 50th birthday.
Reports suggest the pair will wed before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Arquette got down on bended knee at a casual family dinner on Wednesday according to US Weekly. The 42-year-old Never Been Kissed actor and McLarty welcomed a son, Charlie, in April and have been dating on and off since 2011.
Cox and Arquette separated in 2010 after nearly 11 years of marriage. Their divorce was finalised in 2013. The pair, who have a nine-year-old daughter named Coco, met on the set of the 1995 horror film Scream.
Arquette, who is frequently referred to as a “eccentric actor” by US tabloids, chose to air his and Cox’s dirty laundry on Howard Stern’s satellite radio show just one day after they split in 2010.
He admitted to sleeping with a cocktail waitress then accused Cox of engaging in an “emotional affair” with her Cougar Town co-star Brian Van Holt.
“When you love someone, you want them to be happy, even if it’s not you,” Cox told More magazine in January.
“In divorce you always have regrets. We were married for a long time, so it’s not like we didn’t try.
“Obviously kids always want their parents to be together. But as divorces go, this is the best one we could provide.”
The pair now claim their separation is amicable and are regularly seen socialising together with their respective partners.
