A woman narrowly escaped injury when a rock was thrown through her car windscreen in Lyneham in the early hours of Monday morning, police say.

Police said a large rock was thrown through the windscreen of her car travelling on Northbourne Avenue about 12.55am on Monday.
They said the vehicle was travelling northbound through Lyneham when the rock was thrown by a person standing on the side of the road.
The rock hit the windscreen directly in front of the woman, who narrowly escaped injury.
Police conducted a search of the area for the offender and investigations are ongoing.
