Canberrans choosing to stay in the capital for the long weekend will enjoy sunny weather, although those searching for Easter eggs on Sunday will have to brave the coldest morning since spring.

Weatherzone meteorologist Rob Sharpe said Canberra would enjoy “really nice weather” on the weekend, particularly on Good Friday where the mercury's set to hit a top of 19 degrees.
“There will be a little bit of cloud over Canberra later on Friday as a cold front approaches and brings with it a colder air mass as we move into the weekend,” he said.
Mr Sharpe said Easter Sunday would be one of the coolest fine days Canberra has experienced in recent months with a forecast top of 15 degrees.
But the meteorologist issued a dire warning for those Canberrans planning to wake early on Sunday morning to hunt for Easter eggs in their gardens.
“Sunday morning is going to be particularly cold with a low of 2 degrees expected,” he said.
“The last time we had a morning that cold was back in November, so Sunday will be the coldest morning since spring.”
Mr Sharpe said the temperature on Sunday will eventually hit a top of 16 degrees and it will be mostly sunny throughout the day.
He said all capital cities in Australia should enjoy sunny weather over the long weekend, although the cold front passing through Canberra could bring showers to the dividing range and parts of Victoria.
