About 9am this morning police were conducting radar speed detection on Bindubi Street, Macquarie, when a rider on a blue motorcycle drove past above the posted speed limit.
Police tried the stop the motorcyclist but the rider sped away.
A short time later the rider failed to negotiate a bend in the road on Redfern Street, crossing onto the opposite lane and colliding with a tree.
ACT Ambulance Service attended the scene and took the man to Canberra Hospital. The 32-year-old Dunlop man is reported to be in a stable condition.
Redfern Street will be closed between Elizabeth Street and Lachlan Street for the next few hours as ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
