The Brumbies have made just two changes to their side to take on the Cape Town Stormers at Newlands on Sunday morning, with Ian Prior taking over from Nic White and Dan Palmer moving back into the front row.

If the Brumbies beat the Stormers, they will remain unbeaten after five games this year - a record achieved just once in the club's Super Rugby history.

It would also extend their winning streak away from Canberra to eight.

Larkham was part of the Brumbies' most successful era and guided them to two championships. But even in their glory years, the Brumbies struggled to win two games on a tour of South Africa.

The new-generation Brumbies smashed the Durban Sharks last weekend and can complete a perfect tour if they beat the Stormers.

And Larkham said the squad's dedication and hunger for success provided the foundation for success.

''We've got a younger group and when we had more experienced players in the team the focus probably wasn't on rugby as much,'' he said.

''We enjoyed the win over the Sharks but they switched on to the Stormers game on Sunday straight away … there's a different feel in the group at the moment.

''There's a feeling of confidence in rugby. There was probably a period [in the past] where rugby was getting in the way of a good holiday for us [in South Africa].

''It bordered on a holiday … at times we could perform but the focus wasn't there like it is now.''

Brumbies coach Jake White made sweeping changes for the clash with the Sharks, but he's kept it simple for the second week.

Nic White has been given an extra week to rest a shoulder injury, with Prior getting his opportunity in the starting XV. Back-up scrum-half Mark Swanepoel only arrived in Cape Town on Tuesday after making a dash to South Africa to be a part of the 26-man squad.

In the front row, Wallaby Ben Alexander will play from the bench against the Stormers, with Palmer and Scott Sio getting first crack in the front row.

For Prior, it's a chance to show Jake White he's capable of stepping up and taking his opportunity to impress.

Prior and Nic White were vying for the No. 9 jersey at the start of last season.

But White got the jump and earned a place in the Wallabies squad while Prior had to bide his time on the Brumbies bench.

The 22-year-old played 65 minutes against the Sharks and slotted straight into a firing back line when White was forced to the sideline with a shoulder problem. White has been named on an extended bench for the Stormers clash.

Prior's the fittest player in the squad and confident he can take over the scrum-half duties.

It's the first game White hasn't been in the line-up for the past 18 months and Prior got the chance to start just twice last season.

But fighting for a spot from the shadows is something Prior is used to. In schoolboy and representative teams, the former Queensland Red was always on the fringe of selection and had to prove his worth.

''It has been hard on the bench, everyone wants to start,'' he said.

''But Whitey has been going really well and I guess that has pushed both of us to continue getting better. It's a team game, you have to bide your time and hope for an opportunity and I was lucky enough to get mine last week and again this week.

''I've always been on the outskirts so I know I've got to take opportunities … I'm just happy to do my job and we're all working towards the same goal.''
