A 48-year-old man drowned at Uriarra Crossing in the west of the ACT on Thursday afternoon.

According to ACT Policing, the man was last seen the water with his three dogs at the East Reserve side of the crossing.
Other visitors to the area tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the man, and ACT Ambulance Service called police to the lake area at 5.43pm.
ACT Rangers have taken the dead man’s dogs.
ACT Policing said in a statement the death appears to be accidental, but the death is being investigated and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Meanwhile two Canberra youths were rescued from the sea at Tomakin, on the south coast on Thursday afternoon.
Westpac Lifesaver Rescue helicopter and lifesavers from Broulee and Batemans Bay rescued the 16-year-olds and they were being assessed for any injuries.
