But the self-described ''fitness freak'' has lost a bid for bail despite spruiking his new personal training business ''Killer Instincts'' - and the matching T-shirt.
Massey, of Ngunnawal, was arrested last Friday after police allegedly found him trying to start a stolen red Yamaha motorcycle with screwdrivers.
Police say Massey was also in possession of a bag filled with stolen credit cards, identification and other material belonging to at least four other people.
He is charged with two counts of possessing stolen property and possessing an article with intent to use it in a burglary.
The ACT Magistrates Court heard Massey had recently been paroled after serving time for kidnapping and unlawful confinement and was on bail in Queanbeyan on charges of impersonating a police officer.
Massey told the court he was a drug-free ''fitness freak'' since his release from prison and had started a personal training business named Killer Instincts, which counted politicians among its clients.
Massey's relatives handed him a T-shirt emblazoned with his business logo on it, which he held up in court to show magistrate Peter Dingwall.
Mr Dingwall told Massey his business had ''an unfortunate name''.
''You don't like it?'' Massey asked.
''Not particularly,'' was the reply.
The court heard police found Massey with the motorbike, which had been reported stolen a day earlier, on Friday and noticed the ignition had been pulled out of its casing.
A police witness told the court Massey had also been holding a bag filled with identification cards, credit cards and other material, some of which had been reported stolen from a Dickson florist.
Massey told the court he had been trying to buy the motorcycle from a man he had just met at the O'Connor shops and did not know it was stolen.
He said he had been ''ripped off'' after the man took $2000 from him and abandoned him with the vehicle and a green shopping bag full of stolen identification cards and other material.
Massey told the court he had stopped drinking alcohol because of the influence of his devout Catholic girlfriend and was free of drugs apart from medication to prevent him taking heroin.
''I think that's pretty good for me. I'm basically just a fitness freak, I work my bum off and I train my bum off,'' he said.
Massey said he wanted bail to continue working with his clients, saying he had been accepted as a consultant at the all-women's health club, Fernwood.
But Mr Dingwall noted the Ngunnawal man had a number of convictions for escaping custody on his record, and said the risk Massey would reoffend or fail to answer bail was too great.
The matter is back in court next month.
