At 4pm yesterday, the best of each exhibited breed brought the livestock pavilions to those who preferred the comfort of a shaded seat to the dust and heat of visiting the sheds.
But one wayward bull ensured the crowd got more than they bargained for, when he broke free from his handler and set off across the arena to greener pastures on the other side.
Two officials on horseback were eventually able to round up the escapee, while also providing a decent display of cattle mustering skills.
A traditional Royal Canberra Show favourite, the Grand Parade will be held again today at 2.30pm to give Canberrans a final chance to see the best livestock the show can offer. FRANCES STEWART
