Superstar five-eighth Kalyn Ponga had a hand in four tries as the under-23 side romped to a 62-4 victory at WIN Stadium on Friday.

Campbell Graham finished with a second-half hat-trick, man of the match Victor Radley scored twice and David Fifita needed six stitches to a nasty gash above his left eyebrow.

While Ponga would have preferred to feature in the main event later in the evening against New Zealand, he was just as happy to pull on the green and gold alongside several players who will push for a World Cup berth in two years.

"We didn't know what to expect from [France] but because we hadn't played together we also didn't know how our combinations were going to work,'' Ponga said after the match.

"I knew we had strike right across the park. My role was easy - give the ball to people who can attack.''

Ponga did just to that towering Souths winger Graham twice in the second half, having done so for Brian Kelly and Fifita in the opening 20 minutes.

As for whether the Junior Kangaroos could mix it with the Kangaroos, Ponga said: "I'd love to give it a go. That senior team is classy. They'd be a level above. We'd match them for a bit, but there's so much experience and class.''

Radley agreed with Ponga, saying: "We wouldn't have gone too badly, we'd hold them the first 20 minutes, but after 80 minutes they'd probably put 40 on us.".

Ponga is Newcastle and Queensland's No. 1 but will struggle to pinch the Kangaroos' fullback position while James Tedesco, or Tom Trbojevic, are fit.

"But the beauty of being a part of this Australian system is those players are ahead of us, and there were great players before them,'' Ponga said.

"It's the pinnacle, the [senior team] is where everyone wants to get to, but it's awesome to be a part of the system that has that pathway.

"The World Cup should be everyone's goal, and anybody in this room would say the same.''

The tries were coming so easily for the Junior Kangaroos - or Australia A, as Meninga likes to refer to them - even Raiders rookie Corey Horsburgh found himself getting in on the act. The red-haired prop could not believe his luck when he saw open space and scored his first try, which he could not manage in 22 appearances for the Green Machine this season.

France enjoyed more possession in the second half and came up with their only points just after the hour through Mathieu Jussaume. The No.14 was impossible to miss because of his cool mullet and moustache.

The French will now have the pleasure of heading to Parkes, in NSW's central west, for a match against the Western Rams on Wednesday while most of the Australian players will resume or start their end-of-season holidays.

Fifita, however, remains a chance to be included in Meninga's extended squad for next week's trip to Auckland where the Kangaroos meet Tonga in a Test.
