This festive motorbike is revving up Canberra's Christmas

He takes the bike to special Christmas light displays raising money for charity. But the bike is also still his means of transport, whether it's to work, in security, or anywhere else.

"If I need to go to the shops for some milk, this is what I ride," he said.

The Bonner man says, so far, police have been okay with the bike, which has all its usual lights unobstructed.

"I did get pulled up for an RBT in Queanbeyan but the officer was fine about it. He just said, 'Ah, it's Christmas'," Stuart, 33, said.

Stuart originally adorned the bike for last year's Motorcycle Riders' Association ACT Toy Run, twisting around 200 metres of lights. (The toy run is on again on Saturday, leaving Old Parliament House at 10am.)

Stuart enjoys people's reactions to the Christmas bike. "Everyone loves it," he said. "Although, it does confuse them at first, trying to work out what they're seeing."

He was at the Christmas lights of Andy Staines and his daughter Sophie, at 36 Ballarat Street, Fisher, on Wednesday night.

The family is raising money for the Starlight Children's Foundation. People could sit on the Christmas bike and get a photo for a gold coin donation.

Andy and Sophie have put up an amazing display of 20,000 lights and big, blow-up displays of characters purchased from America including Scooby Doo, Olaf, a minion and Snoopy.

The Staines decided to raise money for Starlight, which seeks to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families, after Sophie's older sister Mia, now 17, was ill in 2014 and the foundation helped her tremendously

The Christmas lights are a real father-daughter project.

"It definitely brightens up Christmas and it's great to meet all the people who come to have a look," Sophie said.
