ANU skipper Dan Leerdam says the benefits of the Comets alignment far outweigh the negatives because players know they have truly earned their spot when the call comes.

Leerdam has been named in the ACT/NSW Country Comets squad for six Twenty20 matches in the national second XI competition next week.
The Comets squad is largely made up of Sydney-based players as they prepare to square off against South Australia and Western Australia.
"Obviously the standard in Sydney is really high and we've got some really good players from the country there," Leerdam said.
"It does make it tough to make the Comets if you're from Canberra. I think that's really good.
"It means you've got to earn your spot, and if you do get into that side, you get to play with a much stronger group of players. The benefits massively outweigh the negatives.
"I got a couple of opportunities to play in four-day games for the Comets which has been good.

"Now with the Baby Bash coming up next week, I'm pretty excited and it's a format I probably feel a little bit more comfortable in, Twenty20, so it's going to be really good."
First for Leerdam comes a two-day Douglas Cup clash against Eastlake at Kingston Oval on Saturday, before a Twenty20 double header on Sunday.
ANU are looking to give themselves some breathing space as they cling on to a place in the Douglas Cup's top four, while a pair of wins could be enough to send them to the Twenty20 finals.
"We're pretty excited going into this weekend with a lot to play for," Leerdam said.
"It is a little bit different, we don't have as much experience as some of the other teams would.
"It's pretty cool to play in a group like ours where everyone gets along really well, we're all about the same age so we can play and learn together."
