The famous multi-breasted hot air-balloon whale was set to make her first appearance in seven years in Canberra on Friday night, being tethered to the ground outside Old Parliament House for the Balloon Glow event alongside three other hot-air balloons.
However, predicted storms have postponed the planned tethering until Monday night.
Skywhale is still expected to take part in Monday morning's balloon spectacular over Canberra, weather permitting.
It comes as multiple events scheduled for the Parliamentary Triangle as part of the Enlighten Festival on Friday night were cancelled or postponed due to the forecast.
The Lights! Camera! Action! event for the festival will be moved to Saturday night from Friday night.
The Enlighten Festival ferry on Lake Burley Griffin has been cancelled, as has Questacon's igloo experience.
The Enlighten illuminations and the Night Noodle Markets will still go ahead as scheduled.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a 70 per cent chance of rain and a thunderstorm in the afternoon or evening with some light winds.
