The Cavalry will announce Gailey as their newest signing on Friday, securing the 34-year-old American for another season.
Gailey spent three seasons with Canberra before his family permanently moved to the capital this year.
His return to Narrabundah has Cavalry boss Dan Amodio hoping they can secure the starting pitcher longterm, saying he's already part of the Cavalry family.
"When he decided to move back to Canberra, it was a very special moment for us to reconnect with him and we hope he has a really good time here," Amodio said.
"From our standpoint, it's great to re-sign him because he feels like he's one of us already. He's got Cavalry in his blood so to speak.
"He has shown us over the last couple of years to be a top pitcher in this league and it's great to see him back for the Cavs."

Gailey was the ABL's top pitch in his debut season (2017-18) with an ERA of 1.80. He finished last season with an ERA of 0.90 from 10 innings pitched, with a WHIP of 1.40.
The starting pitcher founded Capital Dugout following the Cavalry's 2019-20 campaign, a company that provides baseball clinics to the local community.
It's his way of giving back to the community who stood by him when he needed it most.
A car crash on the Kings Highway left his wife Christina with internal injuries and a broken leg in late 2017, forcing them to remain in Canberra for an entire year for her recovery.
"All through this process, unlike some other imports who come over just for the summer, Frank became part of the family and the Canberra community," Amodio said.
He joins Steve Kent, David Kandilas, Zach Wilson, Tucker Nathans, Josh Warner, Boss Moanaroa and Rhys Nitt on the Cavalry roster for 2020-21.
