White is edging closer to Brumbies recall, with coach Dan McKellar confirming he would enter the frame for Saturday's clash with the NSW Waratahs at Canberra Stadium.

The 30-year-old scrumhalf came back to Canberra early from a stint with Exeter in July and said any Super Rugby time would be a bonus this year.

The Brumbies' coaching staff have been flogging White at training, where he has stepped in at scrumhalf, wing and everywhere in between.

He's unsure whether he'll spend another week in the paddock or receive a Super Rugby call-up, but he's ready to play whenever needed.

"For me, it's been like a mini pre-season. I've been flogged a bit but I'm feeling pretty good, so hopefully in the not-too-distant future I'll be able to put my hand up," White said.

"Until then, I've been doing what I have to for the team and make sure they're prepped. I don't know if I'll do another week on the wing and help the boys prepare for the Waratahs or if I'll get the nod.

"I'm happy to do whatever job they give me, whatever the team needs me to do right now in order to get the best results. That's for the big wigs to decide."

Winger Tom Wright and prop James Slipper could be welcomed back this week after they were left out of the Melbourne Rebels' clash with niggling injuries.

The race for the three-team Super Rugby AU finals has burst open, with only four points separating the top-four sides.

The Brumbies' lead on top of the standings was sliced to one point following the Waratahs and Queensland Reds' round-seven victories.

A win over NSW would give the ladder-leaders some breathing room, given the Waratahs, Reds and Rebels are yet to serve their second byes of the season.

White expected the Waratahs to come out firing with only two bites left of the cherry, saying they would be coming to Canberra with confidence after consecutive wins.

"The Waratahs have only two cracks to get on the board heading into finals now. They'll definitely be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at these last two games," White said.

"They're playing really good footy at the moment and are looking really confident. It's taken them a few weeks in the previous competition and this one to get comfortable with the style Rob Penney wants them to play. It's starting to come to fruition.

"They've got great talent and a style of play that was new to them, so they're starting to click now. They're looking really good."
