Canberra will host seven matches under Cricket Australia's revised schedule as a result of COVID-19 induced border closures and their related impacts.
The latest adjustment sees the Meteors play five of their eight regular-season matches in Canberra, launching with a WNCL curtain-raiser against the Queensland Fire at Chisholm Oval on Saturday, January 30.
Two fixtures have been pushed back and moved to Phillip Oval from Adelaide, with Jono Dean's outfit to host Tasmania on February 3 before clashing with the SA Scorpions four days later.
The Meteors have welcomed the fixtures change as their players who live in NSW would not be permitted entry into South Australia under current border restrictions.
"We've gone from having three home games to five at this stage. The benefit of circumstance with Covid [in that] ACT has been really fortunate to have gotten through this pandemic really well," Dean said.
"We've got a really good and smart organisation here that's got good facilities and structure. Five home games for our girls is going to be awesome, there's always a slight advantage when you play at home, they're all pretty excited.
"The one thing, nationally, we can all agree on is that we want to play cricket as much as we can. Everyone is doing what they can to make sure these athletes play cricket and the way it's working at the moment, the ACT is a pretty safe place to get to.
"We [ACT, Queensland and South Australia] were due to play in Adelaide for the first two rounds. We've flipped that, so we'll go there later in the fixture as opposed to earlier because it works better from a Covid point of view.
"Olivia Thornton has done a tremendous amount of work with other [high performance] directors, just trying to get this competition off the ground. I'm glad it's going to be in a week-and-a-half's time than not at all. Let's bring it on"
The Meteors have intensified their preparations with two intra-club matches this week, the first of which was a 40-over trial on Tuesday.
They'll play under lights this evening with a 50-overs match, doubling as preparation for round one and a day-night fixture at the WACA in late February.
ACT Meteors' rescheduled WNCL fixtures:
- Queensland v ACT at Chisholm Oval No.1, Saturday January 30.
- Tasmania v ACT at Phillip Oval, Wednesday February 3.
- South Australia v ACT at Phillip Oval, Sunday February 7.
