The 22-year-old returned to the fray for the Wallabies last year and left camp with feedback on improving his fitness and work rate.
So Valetini arrived at Brumbies headquarters determined to leave no stone unturned in a bid to help his side taste Super Rugby AU success and lay the platform for a return to the Test arena.
The back-rower enters his fourth Super Rugby campaign a far more accomplished player than he was a year ago, yet one senses he is yet to fulfil his prodigious potential.
"Obviously had a bit of feedback from Dave Rennie with areas I could work on with work rate and fitness, so just trying to work on those areas and take my game to another level," Valetini said.

"Definitely wanted to work a bit harder. There is always room for improvement, I just came back and wanted to work on my game a lot.
"Obviously we won the championship here, I got to play a few games down at the Wallabies.
"With COVID we had a few weeks off there, I got to reflect on the season we had, also for myself, where I wanted to be heading into Super Rugby AU."
The Brumbies won the domestic crown and now have their sights set on a potential championship double.
The Australian competition will be followed by a Trans-Tasman tournament, with players at this stage set to avoid entering a bubble as community transmission of COVID-19 slows.
The Brumbies are on the verge of locking in a trial match before a clash with the Western Force in round one on February 19.
"Heading into the season we've got a big target on our back having won last year," Valetini said.
"We definitely want to have a good season again and hopefully take that over to the Trans-Tasman. We're obviously keen to face NZ teams.
"[We want to] prove we're the best in Australia and then prove we're the best in Australia and New Zealand.
"Try get the job done here in Super Rugby AU, focus as much as we can here, and then switch to NZ."
