The man, in his 20s, held the only division one winning ticket in the Set for Life draw, which means he'll take home payments of $20,000 each month for 20 years.

An official from The Lott called the lucky lottery player this morning to break the big news.

"Oh my god! Are you kidding me?" he laughed. "Is this even real? I don't know how to feel! I don't know what to do!"

Excitement soon took over, as the man began to reassess the day ahead.

"This is really good! This is crazy. This is so crazy!

"Oh my god, I am supposed to be working today, but there's no way I will be able to.

He opted to call in sick and spend the day celebrating - and sorting out plans for his prize money - instead.

"I am definitely going to look after my parents," he said. "Then I might get myself a house. I am sure there will be a few holidays and investments too."

The Australian Defence Force employee said he was sure he'd keep working and wanted to be sensible with his prize.

"It's just so crazy to think about!"

The Canberra man bought his 25-game QuickPick entry online at thelott.com. The winning numbers were 18, 43, 35, 41, 1, 23 and 5, with supplementary numbers 17 and 30.
