Smoke and flames may be visible from parts of Canberra today as the ACT Rural Fire Service conducts scheduled hazard reduction burns. The burn was expected to start mid-morning on Sunday, at 287 Point Hut Road in Paddy's River. "ACTRFS will remain on scene throughout the duration of the hazard reduction burn, however pockets within the burn area may continue to smoulder and emanate smoke throughout the night," a statement from the Emergency Services Agency said. Canberrans are urged to only call 000 if they see an unattended fire.
