The young halfback has re-signed with the Green Machine until the end of 2023, while outside back Elijah Anderson has signed a one-year development deal for 2022.
With the Raiders releasing the homesick George Williams, the Raiders are in the market for another playmaker.
Sam Williams has stepped up to fill the void left by the England international and Schneider's there as a development option.
Schneider made his NRL debut against the Melbourne Storm, who the Raiders play at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Thursday night, back in round 11.
The 20-year-old wants to get another taste of the NRL this season.
But he also saw an opportunity in Canberra long term - given halfback stocks on the open market are low at the moment.
The Raiders have been offered plenty of off-contract halves, including Gold Coast playmaker Ash Taylor, but were keeping their powder dry.
"There's massive opportunity here for me now to start getting into that role in the starting side. I'm looking forward to it," Schneider said.
"I'd love to get another game or so, or another couple of games, get some minutes in the side, but I'm just taking it day by day.
"Up here on the Gold Coast I'm just soaking in the experience I've got now.
"Hopefully I can get another game or so."

The North Queensland Cowboys overlooked Schneider, despite being right under their noses in Townsville.
But the Raiders saw potential and lured him to Canberra - although he did return to Queensland last year when the coronavirus pandemic shutdown the leagues below the NRL.
Schneider spent some time in 2020 working as a teacher's aid back in Townsville before re-joining the Green Machine towards the back end of the campaign.
"I didn't really get too much of a look in from any other club and the Raiders were the only ones that took me," he said.
"I'm so thankful for the Raiders and I owe everything to them, and I'm so glad I'm able to re-sign at the club and stay here."
Schneider said one of the big lures was being able to work with Raiders coach Ricky Stuart - one of the best halfbacks to play the game.
"His knowledge for the game is unreal. He's a very smart bloke and he's helping me heaps with my game," he said.
"It's good to have the likes of Jack Wighton and Sam Williams here to learn off them as well.
"But Ricky's a top bloke. I'm so grateful for him giving me the opportunities he's given me.
"I get to learn off him, one of the best to ever play the game. It's just amazing I'm able to learn off him."
