League officials met with clubs on Wednesday to discuss the ramifications of Canberra's lockdown, and how it would impact the remainder of the 2021 season.
Discussions have also opened with ACT Sportsgrounds about extending the availability of rugby league playing venues for an extra weekend to fit the CRRL's new proposed schedule, which would allow a full week of training before the resumption of competition.
The plan will be revised again, should Canberra's lockdown end date of September 2 be extended.
"This is a very fluid situation and the CRRL understands the uncertainty that has been created around attempting to complete the competition," general manager Mark Vergano said.
"The CRRL will adjust according to the relevant health advice at the appropriate time.
"The CRRL also has to manage the fact that it runs cross-border competitions and that any decisions around time frames from one government may well impact on the whole competition and require a cessation of what we are trying to achieve."
Clubs will meet again next week to discuss the latest health advice.
The move comes in the wake of ACT Junior Rugby Union announcing earlier this week that it had cancelled the rest of its 2021 season.

AFL Canberra, meanwhile, is also exploring the possibility of a shortened finals series.
Thursday's move to end the regular season ensures the Gungahlin Bulls, Queanbeyan Blues, Queanbeyan Kangaroos and West Belconnen have qualified for finals in the Canberra Raiders Cup competition.
"This is an extremely difficult decision for the committee to take as its overall aim is to always try and play as much rugby league as possible," Vergano said.
