The 18-year-old Raducanu overcame 19-year-old Fernandez of Canada 6-4 6-3 to become the youngest grand slam champion since a 17-year-old Maria Sharapova won Wimbledon in 2004.
The British sensation served an ace to win the match, not dropping a set during her seven matches in the main draw of the tournament, or her three qualifying encounters.
