1. Nightmare on Verity Lane
Verity Lane is rising from the dead from lockdown with a Halloween event that will rattle your bones. Reload Bar and Games is taking over the laneway for spooky sessions of ghostly good times. Token Arcade & Kitchen's full Soul Cartel menu will be available along with Reload's drinks selection - plus special hell-raising Halloween cocktails. There will be prizes for the best dressed and random rewards. Saturday, from 6pm to 8.15pm, from 8.30pm to 10.45pm, and 11pm to 1.30am. Tickets from $15, depending on the session, from Eventbrite.
2. The Witch's Cat
Want to get a little creative this Halloween? Join Life With Paint at the Boardwalk Bar and Nightclub on Sunday to create your own spooky artwork. As the name suggests, this two-hour guided painting session will see you create a painting of a witch's cat. All materials are provided. Sunday, 3pm and 6pm. Boardwalk Bar and Nightclub. Tickets from $65 from lifewithpaint.com.au.
3. Drag Cabaret
And now for something a little scary. Or at least that's what Smith's Alternative and Drag Cabaret promises with this weekend's Halloween event, Something Scary. While they want to monster mash with everyone, safety comes first, so this will be a smaller event than their usual ones to keep everyone as grateful undead. The night will be filled with tricks and treats, and as with previous years, there will be a best dressed competition. Saturday, from 6.30pm, 8pm or 9.30pm. Smith's Alterative. Tickets from $25 from smithsalternative.com.
4. Halloween Triple Header Tribute Show
Looking for a great live Halloween Soundtrack? Shananigans is hosting a Halloween triple header tribute show at The Basement this weekend. Join Modern Relics and Contraband as they pay tribute to Kiss, AC/DC and Live. Grab your favourite costumes and enjoy some live music after being deprived of it for too long. Sunday, 7pm (but the venue is open earlier for those wanting to grab some food). Tickets are $35 from Oztix.
5. Halloween House
Roll up, roll up to what may be Canberra's spookiest house. Wanniassa's Halloween House is back at it again, this time creating a haunted carnival complete with a witchy kissing booth, a skeleton-manned ticket booth and so many creepy clowns that even Stephen King's IT wouldn't know what to do with them all. The event is COVID-safe - complete with contactless lolly bags for kids and a Check In CBR code. And if you don't want to risk the crowds, there is plenty to look at without needing to leave your car. Sunday to Friday, November 5. The house is also collecting donations for stellabellalittlestars.org.au.
