The LEGO Group and the store's operator, Alquemie Group announced on Monday that it will open its doors at 9am on Saturday, November 6.
The landmark 250-square-metre store will be in prime position at Canberra Centre as a signature LEGO brand retail experience, including custom-built brick features which draw inspiration from local icons and landmarks.
"Together with our partners at The LEGO Group, we are proud to continue to extend the presence of LEGO Certified Stores into Canberra," Alquemie Group executive chairman Richard Facioni said.
"The new store will capitalise on the enduring appeal of the LEGO brand and bring a world-class retail concept to the ACT. We look forward to meeting our loyal, growing community of brick fans of all ages in the nation's capital."
Signature features of the new store include a large 3D brick-built model, including a nod to our national emblem, the kangaroo. It is made up of 46,965 LEGO bricks and took more than 395 hours to build.
There will also be a large 3D mosaic of hot air balloons over Lake Burley Griffin. It's comprised of 11,327 LEGO bricks and took 126 hours to build.
LEGO Certified Stores are renowned across the globe as iconic retail experiences with landmark locations in New York, London, Hong Kong, Dubai and Denmark and a footprint in more than 50 countries.
"The LEGO mission is to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow through creative free play and developing the imagination," The LEGO Group's Australia and New Zealand general manager Troy Taylor said.
"The brand, which has delighted generations of children and adults, has been available in Australia for over 60 years. We now look forward to showcasing the potential of the LEGO brick with ACT's first LEGO Certified Store."
