All lanes of Isabella Drive were closed on Monday morning, after a skip bin on the rear of a truck caught alight.
A spokesperson for Emergency Services ACT said the fire had been extinguished just after midday.
The road will remain closed until approximately 1pm due to rubbish from the skip blowing onto the highway, the spokesperson said.

Firefighters were on scene at Isabella Drive, between Cockcroft Avenue and Ashley Drive, Gowrie from about 11am.
The skip contained recyclable materials but the cause of the blaze is not yet clear.
Emergency services have advised people to avoid the area until they have declared the scene safe.
