1. Summernats
Kick 2022 into gear this weekend when Summernats returns to the capital. One of the country's wildest horsepower parties takes over Exhibition Park from Thursday, bringing with it automotive heaven. Along with more than 2000 cars, Summernats has a great music line-up featuring Hooligan Hefs, Kerser and Hot Dub Time Machine. Thursday to Sunday. Exhibition ParkTickets from $70 from Oztix. Along with the usual events at Exhibition Park, this year sees the introduction of a Fringe Festival on Lonsdale Street. Braddon will host hundreds of pre-approved Summernats entrant vehicles that will combine with live music, food and drinks. Friday and Saturday, 6pm to 11pm.
2. Lerida by the Lake
Collector winery Lerida Estate has set up shop in Canberra so you can soak up the sunshine with a glass of wine in hand. Join the winery at Canberra Visitors Centre for a one-hour wine tasting for two people, complete with a delicious antipasto platter and the best views in town. The team will guide you through five different wines while you graze on meats and cheeses. When your wine tasting session finishes, grab a seat in the wine bar and relax with some award-winning wine and views over Lake Burley Griffin. Saturday, 1pm. Canberra Visitors Centre. Tickets are $64.39 for two from Eventbrite.
3. Northbourne and Friends
Head to Smith's Alternative for a night of live music. Headlining the night will be Northbourne, a high-energy, teenage grunge band that has gone off with the release of their new singles Hideaway, Money Maker and Until I Break. Also taking to the stage is alternative outfit Modern Age Band, Canberra trio Blue Milk and folk/punk quartet A Commoners Revolt. Friday, 8pm. Smith's Alternative. 4. Red Light Confidential
Things are heating up at Flazéda Hub, as Red Light Confidential makes its return this weekend. It brings with it one heck of a line-up, with some interstate acts headed to the nation's capital to have some fun on stage, alongside some of Canberra's finest to truly dazzle the audience. Friday, 8pm. Flazéda Hub. Bookings at Eventbrite. Tickets are by donation.
5. Sunset Cinema
Head to Botanic Gardens and kick back under the stars and enjoy a film. This week's offerings sees Marvel film Venom: Let There Be Carnage screen on Thursday. Friday night is the classic Disney film The Lion King, and on Saturday, see Daniel Craig on the big screen in the latest James Bond Film, No Time to Die. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, gates open at 6.30pm for an 8.30pm start. Australian National Botanic Gardens. Tickets from $21 from sunsetcinema.com.au.
