Fashfest partner Wendy Johnson confirms that while timelines are lagging this year, Fashfest will be back. And the show will heavily feature local, independent designers.
"We had a planning meeting yesterday and have chosen dates for October," Johnson says.
"We're still working out the details but I can assure Canberra that Fashfest is definitely happening."
She says the event is once again being held at the National Convention Centre.
Canberra's fashion-forward had started to wonder about the future of Fashfest given timelines from previous years were not being adhered to.
The three-day fashion event normally calls for expressions of interest from designers in March (for a September event) and for runway models in April. Neither of these call-outs has happened so far this year.
The brainchild of former ZOO Group creative director Clinton Hutchinson and model wife Andrea, Fashfest is the premier event on Canberra's fashion calendar.
Hundreds of local and national designers have been showcased in the five years the event has been running, with hundreds of local models also garnering their first experience walking the catwalk thanks to the event.
Fashfest started life as a 'pop-up' fashion event in an abandoned building at Brindabella Business Park, but moved to the National Convention Centre in 2015.
