DAD'S DAY
Papas cannot survive on dad jokes alone, you must feed and water them. So in celebration of Father's Day you might like to treat them. This Sunday, Canberra establishments To All My Friends, XO, Pod Food, Buvette, Burbury Terrace and The Conservatory Restaurant have special menus and events for dad, while Molly and Capital Brewing Co have drinks covered. 100 TACOS
Love buffets but despise all that darn choice? Get a whole lot of one very good thing with Shorty's 100 Tacos for $100. The bar will host this bulky feast for you and your hungriest mates this Sunday. For a crispy green one - or the swipe of a card if you aren't a gangster who deals purely in hundos - you will find yourself in possession of 100 soft tacos (because hard shell is the devil's chip), 3kg of beef, chicken and beans, and unlimited refills of salsa, lettuce, guacamole and sour cream. BUF GIRLS
If a Sunday feast is on the cards, ensure your body is primed for the event. This Saturday, Libby Babet, trainer on The Biggest Loser: Tranformed, will host a group fitness session with her team the BUF girls. The aerobic masterclass will also include tips on how to keep your health and fitness a priority plus a copy of Babet's latest book. Level 1, near Country Road, Canberra Centre. OPEN MIC
Here's a life tip I love: every day, do something that scares you. And you know what's scary? Opening yourself up to potential humiliation, but also potential comedic glory. Head to Smith's Alternative this Saturday for their Open Mic Comedy Night. Newcomers - this could be you! - will take to the stage for five minutes a piece, delivering their finest quips or you know, the gags they've only rehearsed in front of their semi-conscious pets. Entry is free, and according to the host, so is exiting. Smith's Alternative. Saturday, 7pm-9pm. To perform, arrive at 6.30pm to register. Free.
FOOD TRUCKS
That car wash in the middle of Braddon is about to get a whole lot tastier. And I don't mean they're going to wash your vehicle with edible suds, you incredible freak, they're actually bringing a procession of food trucks to town. Let's Do Yum Cha's bite-sized delights, Miss Margherita's pizza stylings, Tastyroad's Korean fried chicken and Get Crackin's creme brûlée will assemble at the Waves Food Truck Pop Up this Friday night through till Saturday night.
