If you love death without having to actually die, book yourself a spot on the Ghost Hunters Tour at Old Parliament House. Bookings via moadoph.gov.au. $29.
SUNSET CINEMA
Enjoy a flick under the stars in the sweet, sweet summer air at the Sunset Cinema. From Friday to Sunday check out the talented Lady Gaga in A Star is Born, a spunky younger Dumbeldore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and the latest adaptation of Robin Hood. You can even indulge in some premium "lawn lounge" tickets if you've forgotten/are refusing to get Christmas presents. Australian National Botanic Gardens, Acton. Friday-Sunday, gates open 6.30pm. Tickets via sunsetcinema.com.au. $13-40.
SUNDAY SESSIONS
Enjoy $6 house beers and wines plus refreshing $20 cocktail jugs and unwind to live music at To all my friends' Sunday summer sessions. To all my friends, Cook. Sunday 3pm-late. More info via Facebook.
SCHOOL HOLIDAY SELF-DEFENCE
I don't mean defending yourself from the seemingly never-ending school holidays - for that there is no escape - but rather lessons in kung fu and Chinese lion and dragon dance. Ages 8-88 are welcome. Equipment is provided, just bring comfy clothes, water, a snack, sunscreen and a hat. Try a class and, if you like, join the Lunar New Year performance team. Saturday 2-5pm. More info via Facebook. $20, family discounts available.
WOMEN IN PARLIAMENT
The Breaking Through: 75 years of women in parliament exhibition at the Museum of Australian Democracy details the journeys of 11 pioneering women who were the first to hold parliamentary positions. Gaze on never-before-seen portraits and discover the stories of these trailblazers. Museum of Australian Democracy, Old Parliament House, Parkes. Open daily 9am–5pm. $1-$5 entry.
