The Emergency Services Agency said the fire was reported shortly before 1am and it sent three pumpers, two commanders, bronto and the breathing apparatus van.
"A woman was transported by [ambulance] to the Canberra Hospital for smoke inhalation overnight after an apartment was heavily damaged by fire on Badimara Street in Fisher," it said in a statement.
"She was the only person evacuated. The fire caused total roof collapse and significant damage to part of the building."
