Two 14-year-old girls from the Gold Coast have been charged with attempted armed robbery after allegedly attempting to rob a woman in Southport.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was walking along Nerang Street when she was approached by the two girls about 8pm on Thursday.
Queensland Police alleged the two girls showed the woman a knife and demanded money.
The woman refused and the teenagers allegedly repeatedly punched the woman's head and body, knocking her to the ground.
The woman yelled for help and the teenagers fled.
Police found and arrested the two girls, while the woman was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
A 14-year-old girl from Banora Point was charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery and stealing.
A 14-year-old girl from Coolangatta was charged with one count of attempted armed robbery.
