1. CARTIER: THE EXHIBITION
If diamonds are a girl's best friend, the next blockbuster exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia is sure to win a few pals. Opening on March 30, Cartier: The Exhibition features more than 300 intricate pieces from the Cartier collection, charting the prestigious Paris jewellery houses throughout 20th century history. Pieces in the collection have been loaned by royal families, celebrities and the Cartier collection. The exhibition opens March 30 and runs until July 22 at the National Gallery of Australia. Tickets available from Ticketek.
2. NATIONAL FOLK FESTIVAL
Easter in Canberra means the National Folk Festival. This year there's more than 900 hours of entertainment across 20 stages from March 29-April 3. Whether it be music, dancing, food or frivolity, you'll be able to get your fill from 8.30am to well past midnight. Highlights include Scottish powerhouse Elephant Sessions, Australian all-girl group All Our Exes Live in Texas and a wide range of family friendly activities. Exhibition Park. Tickets available for the full event, for single days from http://folkfestival.org.au/
3. EASTER EGG TRAIL
There will be more than 17,000 eggs on offer at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House on Sunday as part of their Great Easter Egg Trail. Families first go on one of four trails through the museum, solving clues and cracking the code, then at the end, kids get rewarded with chocolate-y goodness. After a huge crowd last year - more than 7,000 people turned up - they've this year introduced a booking system. It's still free, but you have to book and choose a designated time at moadoph.gov.au/easter. There will also be activities in the courtyards and a barbeque serving breakfast and lunch.
4. EASTER HUNT FOR GROWN UPS
Why should just the kids get to hunt for chocolate? The Duxton in O'Connor is holding an adults-only Easter egg hunt on Saturday from 3pm. The hunt is open to over 18s only, who can scour the pub for not only eggs, but also dinner vouchers and drink cards. Free entry.
5. HOT DUB WINE MACHINE
