It's been more than a month since the decision was made to ban greyhounds in Canberra, something that will take away the jobs of Ms Collier and others.

Members of the club say they are still relying on the media, and follow politicians' Facebook and Twitter accounts for news on what will happen to them.

Ms Collier and a handful of others brought 2500 letters written in support of the industry to the ACT Legislative Assembly on Friday.

She said the ban had been made despite the club not having a single complaint of mistreatment, as well as the lowest injury rate in the country.

"If they come out to the track, maybe have a look before they make these accusations, that's what they should do," she said.

"Come and have a look and see the kind of work we do."

A spokesman for Gaming and Racing Minister Mick Gentleman said the government had set up a meeting with club members next week.

"Both the Minister for Racing and Gaming, and the Chief Minister's offices have met with the Canberra Greyhound racing club to set up a meeting, and there is currently a meeting scheduled for Tuesday the 23rd of August as a result of these earlier conversations," he said.

The club has been ramping up its public campaign against the ban, which was announced by the ACT government in early July. It won't come into force until next year.

The ACT government followed the actions of NSW, which banned greyhound racing following an inquiry that found widespread evidence of live baiting and "wastage".

Earlier in the year, the RSPCA gave evidence that eight NSW trainers linked to live baiting had raced or participated in the ACT industry.

Chief Minister Andrew Barr said at the time that sustaining a local industry without NSW was near impossible, given that many of the officials, trainers, and members who participated here were from interstate.

But Canberra greyhound breeder Alan Tutt said the ACT had one of the safest tracks in Australia, and treated animal welfare as a top priority.

Speaking on behalf of other trainers, Mr Tutt said the decision would bring unemployment and depression.

"A lot of older people in the industry will be unemployable, so there'll be more people on dole payments," he said.

"It's heartbreaking."
