Best friends Lucy Sugerman and Kealie Diamond were two of the 21 people selected to meet Taylor Swift after her Sydney concert last Saturday. Out of the 76,000 strong crowd – that's a 0.02 per cent chance.
A week later and Lucy still hasn't come down from the experience.
"It doesn't feel like it happened. It's been one of my dreams since I was seven because I've loved her for so long and I just can't believe it happened," she said.
At the concert, which was held at Sydney's ANZ Stadium, Swift's management selected 21 lucky people from the audience to visit Lot 89, a backstage after-party where they met Swift.
"I think [we were chosen] because we did not stop screaming the whole time and we also had a crazy costume that we spent way too much time and money on, but it was so worth it."
Lucy says the experience was everything she could have dreamed of.
"She was one of the nicest and most genuine people ever and she's so beautiful in real life. She complimented our costumes a lot – it was amazing and it was the best day of my life," she said.
"I had planned everything I wanted to say to her but when I got into the room I forgot everything. She was really, really easy to talk to and she was so lovely and at the end after we took our picture I told her I loved her and thanked her for being in my life for seven years, guiding me through so many things in her songs and she said, 'No, thank you for paying attention to me for that long' and she told me she loves me and I panicked and it was so surreal – I couldn't believe it happened."
The experience could be like looking into a crystal ball of her own future for Lucy is a rising singing star in her own right.
After capturing the attention of The Voice star Amber Nichols, it's been a big few months of performing and winning singing competitions for Lucy.
On top of winning best solo artist at the CIT School Band Competition and taking out the 13 to 17-year-old category at the Australian Busking Championships, the 14-year-old St Clare's College student has also just won the Lift Off Music Comp at Woden Youth Centre – and she was the youngest entrant.
It may not be long until fans are giddily lining up to meet her backstage.
