"When I came here for the first time, I fell in love with this country," he says.
"As a student, if you really want to study, it's the most conducive place, and especially here in Canberra, you have world-class institutions here … wi-fi was actually invented here.
"I wasn't really into jogging but I got into jogging because everyone does it here in Canberra. They say, 'hello mate', in other countries you don't get that.
"I'm an ambassador for this great city - everywhere I go, I am so proud to talk like I'm a Canberran."
Bonsu is studying media at CIT Bruce and hopes to begin a degree next year at the University of Canberra.
He has been advocating on behalf of his fellow overseas students and is now vice-president of the Council for International Students Australia.
Originally from Ghana, he had lived in Europe with his parents, but decided to move after hearing a recommendation from a friend who moved to Canberra.
"I did some research and I liked what I saw so I decided to apply to come here to study," he says.
"It's great, I love it, I've had enough of chaotic city lifestyles - I was living in London before I came here."
He finds living in Canberra expensive and works part-time as a security guard.
On Sundays he does a shift on a Christian radio, 1WAY FM, based at Fyshwick.
