The Drinking Water Quality Report 2014 is the result of water monitoring and testing across a range of catchments, storage reservoirs, treatment plants and household taps over 12 months.
Actew Water delivered 48GL of H2O to about 163,000 homes in the ACT in the previous financial year and maintained a 100 per cent compliance rate with the Public Health (Drinking Water) Code of Practice (2007).
Treated water was delivered to customers through 47 service reservoirs, three tanks, 25 pump stations and over 3207 kilometres of water mains.
ACTEW Water communications manager David Hohnke said the organisation had taken and tested more than 5000 routine water samples from garden taps and reservoirs.
"Each month our samplers take 84 random samples from a pool of around 350 sites across our four water service zones, representing North Canberra, Gungahlin, Belconnen, South Canberra, Woden, Weston Creek and Tuggeranong, with garden taps used to provide an easily accessible static point," he said.
"And we are always looking for more residents willing to participate in our program and allow samples to be taken from their taps," he said.
