Richard Michael Rubino, 26, was due to stand trial in the ACT Supreme Court in December on 15 counts, including theft, aggravated burglary, and damage to property.
But he switched his position on Tuesday, pleading guilty to theft and three charges of burglary.
A further four counts of theft and property damage were dropped.
The court heard Rubino and coaccused Michael John Robertson, 41, smashed into pay parking machines at Westfield Belconnen and stole $7200 in January 2011.
They, and an unidentified man, also repeatedly burgled the Weston Club between December 2010 and February 2011.
On three occasions the men gained access to the club after it closed and then broke into gaming machines.
The trio stole almost $40,000 and caused hundreds-of-thousands of dollars in damage in the process.
The court has previously heard a police raid on Rubino's home uncovered a silver retractable pole similar to one used to push a closed circuit television camera to face another direction at the Belconnen mall before two men broke into the parking machines.
Police also found clothing similar to the clothes worn by the offenders captured in surveillance tape footage at both the Belconnen mall and the Weston Club.
Footwear owned by Rubino also matched a shoe print lifted from the crime scene at the Weston Club.
Justice Richard Refshauge ordered the December trial be abandoned and a sentencing hearing conducted in its place.
The judge continued Rubino's bail to reappear at the hearing.
