The men, who were captured on closed-circuit television footage, are alleged to have vandalised the On the Staircase sculpture in Petrie Plaza near David Jones about 10.40pm.
A number of little fat men attached to the sculpture were ripped off, but the exact damage bill is still unknown.
The sculpture is worth about $80,000 and has been targeted by vandals in the past.
Both men were wearing jeans and T-shirts with printed motifs on the front. One of the men was also wearing a beanie.
They were seen walking toward the Petrie Plaza merry-go-round after the attack.
Anyone who recognises the men or witnessed the vandalism of the sculpture is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au
