Nationals young gun Cubillo will honour her indigenous heritage and culture when the team wears a newly designed jersey for the NSW Waratah League annual indigenous round.
The Canberra Gunners and Nationals will wear the jerseys on Saturday, which have symbols representing courage, compassion, strength, community, reconciliation, trust and belonging.
The jersey hits close to home for Cubillo, who says the indigenous weekend is a great event for the community.
"The jersey brings greater awareness for the indigenous community and to see the indigenous round happen is huge and awesome for the indigenous community," Cubillo said.
The meaning behind the design surrounds standing strong together, striving for quality and better futures, positive pathways, coming together as a community and setting goals to gain strength to challenge yourself.
The Nationals will wear the jersey for the clash against the Newcastle Hunters at Belconnen, with the team looking for redemption after losing the last match between the teams in June.
The Nationals are also fighting for a spot on the finals and Cubillo says they will be bolstered by the return of several key players.
"We are all very excited for the challenge, we have previously had a few out with injuries so it will be good to be back with a full team," Cubillo said.
"They [Newcastle] are a great team with great players, who work well together, but we are ready to not let them push us out."
Her plans for the WNBL and her return to the Canberra Capitals are still unconfirmed, with the young star hopeful for the future opportunities.
