Friday will also mark the start of the judging inside the main pavilion, capped off with the "great uncover" during the evening in which a number of the event's elite showcars will be seen in public for the first time.
Included will be Team Army's new burnout vehicle, the six-wheel, turbocharged, supercharged diesel Mercedes G-wagon.
The first of the burnout eliminations began on Thursday, with one competitor conveyed to hospital by ambulance after his car collided with a barrier. The details of the incident are still to be confirmed.
Event promoter Andy Lopez said the burnouts would proceed as scheduled, despite the bushfire smoke haze surrounding the capital.
"It [the bushfire smoke] definitely makes it harder for everyone, particular our officials and staff who are working in it all day," he said.
"But we have prepared for it. We're asking staff to take more rest breaks inside and take care of themselves."
