The Picodi.com analysis team decided to check the statistics of "romantic" queries on the internet in 46 Australian cities and created the ranking of the most romantic places in Australia.
Its queries list comprised terms such as "Valentine's Day", "love confession", "flowers" and "love".
Based on that, Launceston in Tassie came out top as Australia's most romantic city; Gladstone in Queensland bottom as the least.
Canberra came in at 12th most romantic, above Perth but below Warragul.
The good folk at VisitCanberra, meanwhile, know that Canberra truly is a romantic city.
We have hot air balloons on misty mornings, vineyards, lakes, bushland walks, picnic-ready parklands, amazing restaurants, temperatures cold enough for actual fireside tete a tetes, the Belconnen Owl for goodness sake. We wuz robbed.
So VisitCanberra is balancing the ledger. It has compiled a list of places to propose this Friday, Valentine's Day.
The arboretum and Mount Ainslie made the cut. Belco owl, not so much, strangely.
