1. Pub Rock
2020 may not have been the year for live music but the National Portrait Gallery is here to help. Pub Rock is an exhibition designed to celebrate the people, places and sounds of Australian music. Filled with staged portraits, publicity shots and live performance photos, the line-up includes AC/DC, Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel, pictured with lead singer Jimmy Barnes, INXS, Paul Kelly, and more. Bring your headphones because the gallery has created a Spotify playlist to accompany the exhibition. National Portrait Gallery. Open 10am to 5pm every day except Christmas. 2. Big Bash
Boxing Day and cricket go hand in hand, and this year you can watch it live and in person at Manuka Oval. Spend the day watching the Boxing Day Test match between Australia and India at home before heading out to see Sydney Thunder take on the Melbourne Renegades. And if that's not enough live cricket for you, Sydney Thunder will also take on the Melbourne Stars at Manuka Oval on December 29. Saturday, 6.10pm. Manuka Oval. Tickets from Ticketek.
3. Know My Name
The National Gallery of Australia's Know My Name: Australian Women Artists 1900 to Now is one of the country's biggest-ever displays of art by Australian women, featuring about 400 works by 170 artists. The show is part of the gallery's commitment to addressing the gender imbalance that is not only in their own collection - which last year saw 25 per cent created by women - but across the world. 4. Local Yoga
We all know that the Christmas season can be a stressful one so why not join Local Yoga for a Sunday morning class in the tranquil courtyard gardens of Gorman Arts Centre? People are also encouraged to hang out after the class and chat over a cold-brew coffee in the morning sun with other participants. Sunday, 9am. No bookings required, but it is limited capacity so it's a first come first served basis.
Brush up on your history with the story hat lies at the core of the Australian nation - the HMB Endeavour's 1770 voyage. Explore views from the ship and shore on the 250th anniversary of the journey. The museum also has Talking Blak to History, an exhibition that explores the voices of Australia's first peoples and features powerful objects that speak to the aftermath of colonisation and explore issues including land rights, sovereignty, the Stolen Generations and deaths in custody.
