The three-car collision happened in the northbound lanes of the Parkway near the Belconnen turn-off at the Glenloch Interchange just before 6pm on Thursday.
No injuries have been reported and ambulance crews were not required.
However, an ACT Emergency Services Agency spokeswoman said the collision had caused significant delays for drivers during peak hour, as well as those heading to Canberra Stadium for the Raiders' match against the Rabbitohs, scheduled to kick-off just before 8pm.
Fire and rescue crews are on the scene of the collision to help clear the roads.
Drivers have been urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
