1. Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham
A year that many would have gladly sent back for a refund was one to remember for country singer Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham, of The Waifs. Not only did they find a blossoming musical partnership, but also love. Their debut album, The Song Club was a result of an initiative that saw a group of creatives tasked with writing a song a week. 2. Geek Markets
Geek Markets Canberra is the ultimate shopping destination to come and support geeky artists, creators and traders. Families can spend their weekend wandering around checking out the original artwork from local artists while also browsing board games, clothing, toys, books, retro video games, collectables, comics, accessories and more. Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 6pm. Exhibition Park. Free event.
3. Trove Canberra Slow Fashion Parade
Featuring local designers and makers, the Trove Canberra Slow Fashion Parade will take over Dickson this weekend. The afternoon aims to educate the community about sustainability, making conscious fashion choices and giving people ideas and inspiration about how to make more sustainable choices in their wardrobe, while showcasing local designers. 4. A German Life
A German Life is a theatrical tour-de-force from three titans of the theatre - Australian stage performer Robyn Nevin in a play by Christopher Hampton and directed by Neil Armfield. Nevin plays Brunhilde Pomsel, an unassuming woman with good shorthand skills who, almost by chance, came to work in Joseph Goebbels's Propaganda Ministry. Pomsel struggled to make ends meet as a secretary in Berlin during the 1930s, her many employers including a Jewish insurance broker, the German Broadcasting Corporation and eventually, Goebbels. Friday, 7.30pm, Saturday, 2pm and 7.30pm, and Sunday, 1pm and 6pm. Canberra Theatre Centre. Tickets from $69 from canberratheatrecentre.com.au.
5. Girls Rock! Canberra
Girls Rock! Canberra is holding an all-ages fundraiser gig to raise money for rock camp with a line up including Finn Burton, Flik and Sesame Girl. Girls Rock! Canberra is an organisation working to increase the participation of young people of marginalised gender identities in music. Rock camp is a week-long school holiday program where campers form bands and write original songs. Sunday, from 4pm. Gang Gang Cafe and Bar. Tickets from $17.35 from Oztix.
